Portman Nature Preserve
This workday will be the first opportunity for the public to connect with this land and pitch in to improve it!

The future Portman Nature Preserve represents nearly a decade of dedication to conserve this beautiful piece of land and its ecological riches, while also creating an unparalleled opportunity to connect local schools and communities with healthy nature. This workday will be the first opportunity for the public to connect with this land and pitch in to improve it. SWMLC volunteers will be working on a combination of habitat restoration, trail creation, and “sprucing up” the preserve in anticipation of its grand opening this coming fall. Of course, we will take some time to explore the property!

RSVP’s are always nice: just shoot a quick email to lettow@swmlc.org to let us know you’re coming!

WHEN: Saturday, June 24, 9 am – noon

WHERE: Portman Nature Preserve, Almena and Antwerp Twps., Van Buren Co.

BRING: Work-wear (sturdy shoes, grubby work clothes, weather appropriate) and gloves. SWMLC will provide tools, water, and a snack.

DIRECTIONS: Please note: Portman Nature Preserve is not currently open. If you would like to visit the property before the June 24 workday, please join us for a special Sneak Peek event on Saturday, May 20. Details to come!

Anyone is welcome to pitch in to help keep our preserves up to snuff. It’s a wonderful way to experience the preserves with the folks who know them best, plus get acquainted with other active people who share the conservation spirit.

SWMLC Saturday Workdays in the Preserves . . . show us your muscles!
