Portman Nature Preserve
We can’t wait to share this spectacular land with the public at Portman Nature Preserve’s upcoming Grand Opening!
But there’s still plenty of sprucing up and prepping to do before Portman Nature Preserve is ready for its big debut! We want to have about 2 miles of trails ready by then, so there is lots of clearing, marking, and pruning to do to get the preserve ready for the public. Can you help? Please join us in the excitement of preparing the Portman Nature Preserve for its big debut!

DIRECTIONS: From I-94 take the Mattawan Exit (# 66) and head north (right) from the traffic circle onto Main Street. Continue north for 1 mile to reach Red Arrow Highway, then turn left (west). Carry on for 1.5 miles, then turn right (north) onto 27th Street (look for Owsiany Farm Stand on the corner). Continue traveling north for 0.75 mile, then turn left (west) onto 49th Avenue. Go about 0.75 mile to the preserve entrance on the right/north side of the road (just west of the old white farm house at #28534).
Anyone is welcome to pitch in to help keep our preserves up to snuff. It’s a wonderful way to experience the preserves with the folks who know them best, plus get acquainted with other active people who share the conservation spirit.
