Portman Nature Preserve

Those brushpiles look awful good sitting in the snow . . . please join us in the satisfaction of winter-time invasive plant removal!
WHEN: Saturday, February 24, 1 – 4 pm

WHERE: Portman Nature Preserve, Almena and Antwerp Twps., Van Buren Co.

BRING: Wear warm, waterproof boots and cold weather work-wear in layers (because it doesn’t take long for a sweat to become a chill, says Momma SWMLC). SWMLC will provide tools, water, and a snack.

From I-94 take the Mattawan Exit (# 66) and head north (right) from the traffic circle onto Main Street. Continue north for 1 mile to reach Red Arrow Highway, then turn left (west).
Go west for 1.5 miles, then turn right (north) onto 27th Street (look for Owsiany Farm Stand on the corner).
Continue traveling north for 0.75 mile, then turn left (west) onto 49th Avenue.
Go about 0.75 mile to the preserve entrance on the right/north side of the road (just west of the old white farm house at #28534).

RSVP: RSVP’s are always nice: just shoot a quick email to lettow@swmlc.org to let us know you’re coming!

Anyone is welcome to pitch in to help keep our preserves up to snuff. It’s a wonderful way to experience the preserves with the folks who know them best, plus get acquainted with other active people who share the conservation spirit.

SWMLC Saturday Workdays in the Preserves . . . show us your muscles!
