Natural Features
Extremely high quality fen along the shore and tributary seeps of Cook Lake.  State threatened rosinweed and tuberous Indian plantain are known from this site as well as other rare fen species including showy lady’s slipper, pitcher plant, and wood lily.  A tamarack swamp with a brushy understory spreads back away from the lake Eastern box turtles are found on the preserve.  There are unconfirmed reports of Eastern massasauga rattlesnakes and Kirtland’s water snakes.  The surrounding upland is somewhat disturbed oak woodland.
