Natural Features
This site is nearly all shallow to emergent wetlands with a border of fen and wet meadow. It is an important migratory waterfowl stopover site and is adjacent to the Gourdneck State Game Area, providing a large contiguous natural area for wildlife. Historical records show it once supported an incredible diversity of orchids. State-listed spotted gar have been documented at the site.
