Natural Features
A variety of wetlands including fen and swamp forest make up much of the preserve and a series of dug ponds provide habitat for many turtles. The preserve has frontage on Mud Lake, a natural spring fed lake. The uplands contain relatively rich oak forests with an intact understory.
