It’s a secret that only the neighbors of Wau-Ke-Na South can truly appreciate . . . the preserve’s big views and isolated lakeshore location make it a gem for stargazing!
That’s why we hope you will join us and the Kalamazoo Astronomical Society for a special dark sky viewing party this October, where KAS members will provide stunning views of deep-sky objects through their telescopes. Expect to see a gorgeous night sky (weather permitting), find out why dark skies are important for wildlife, and learn more about how you can promote dark skies at home.
Important note about weather: if we need to cancel the event due to cloudy conditions, we will notify registered participants via email and social media by 5 pm on the day of the event
♦ Dogs are typically welcome at SWMLC preserves, but we ask that you leave your furry friend at home for this guided nature event.
♦ So you can be prepared, there are no restrooms at this preserve.
